Function: The Security position will assist with night security for the residential program to provide a caring, respectful, and safe atmosphere for those seeking life transformation through the ARC program.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Check personnel for proper identification and clearance.
- Permit and document authorized people to enter property and document anyone exiting.
- Observe and report suspicious activity and protect Salvation Army property and staff by maintaining a safe and secure environment.
- Conduct rounds throughout the building, maintain log book, and monitor alarm systems and video surveillance.
- Request emergency personnel for any high-risk situations.
- Have clear understanding of policy regarding confidentiality, response to law enforcement personnel, fire evacuation plan, and procedure for medical emergencies.
- Guard Salvation Army property against fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry.
- Warn violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles.
- Sound alarm or call police or fire department by telephone in case of fire, difficulty with unauthorized people, or medical emergencies. Firearms and tasers are NOT allowed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must be willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Security experience preferred.
- Must be able to write log entries and incident reports as needed.
- Must be in agreement with The Salvation Army’s Christian spiritual approach to rehabilitation.
- Must be certified in basic First Aid including Narcan administration or become certified within 60 days of hire.
